Here we are in another December and approaching the year 2020! As a kid in the 90s who spent many years of my childhood growing up in Malaysia, those TV ads for "Vision 2020" (Wawasan 2020) still run through my head, at age 35 now, when I think of this approaching year. Ah, the impressionable mind of a child - those are the impressions of life that have stuck with me and carried me forward. Years later, both Malaysia and I would realize one of the mottoes I have come to live by: "Change is hard, life is real." - although I don't think either Malaysia or I have done too badly for ourselves.
Through all these years, here is a quick list of some of the major lessons I have learned and mottoes I live by, applicable to starting and running your own business, and, well, just about any aspect of your life, really: - It really is possible for the turtle to win the race; in fact, it happens more often than many people would care to really look around themselves and observe. People who stick with it for the long run will always be light years ahead of their peers who never even start. - Along the same vein as the above: "The true value of anything is the amount of life you have to give in exchange for it." (I can't really claim this as an original quote - I read it on a T-shirt in the Shanghai metro in the Summer of 2017.) - "The most powerful thing you can ever change is your own Mind." (original quote and "personal motto"; inspired by Lee Iacocca) - "Change is hard, life is real." (original quote - on toughing it through the toughest years of my early 30s) Better life, better business, better you, -Andreas Owner and operator of Biz Opp Empire
