Sitting here now at my laptop on Halloween 2019 looking back at the blogs and websites I operate gives me a sense of both pride and awe at this point in time, and also the very real feeling of truly knowing and understanding just how much actual hands-on experience and actually getting your butt in gear and doing the work counts! Am I now a multi-millionaire with the yacht on the Mediterranean that costs as much as 5 or 6 large 3-storey homes back in my home town of Pullman, Washington? No, nowhere close! If not the money, am I at least enjoying the fame and glory of having my picture posted all over YouTube and Instagram as the next "rising star of the Internet"? Again, nowhere even close on this one! In fact, except for my wife and a small handful of other family members and close friends, no one - except for those few Internet surfers who still exist and stumble on them by total chance - even know my blogs and websites exist.
So what with these feelings of pride, awe, and accomplishment? These are just an internal feeling of mine for myself. I can now look back over the last 3 years of my life and say one thing: while I have been chasing the dragon of "the next greatest thing on the Internet" for nearly half my current lifespan up until this point; one thing I haven't been is consistent - not until these last 3 years. Doing the work and sticking with it - clocking those real hours of actual hands-on time with your projects and ventures puts you far ahead of anyone not actually putting in this time.....and I think the single most important lesson that I have truly learned within the last 3 years of my life is that a very, very large number of people out there - in fact, I am going to be bold and go with the majority of people - simply don't put in the time or energy to ever realize their dreams - and this simple fact is why their dreams never come to fruition. True greatness is getting up when you get slammed down.
True greatness is getting up when you get slammed down a million times and looking at those one million times as a million opportunities to practice and refine your technique of getting back up and getting back in the game faster, more efficiently, and better prepared. True greatness is smiling in the face of adversity. True greatness is learning your lessons from the past, preparing for a brighter tomorrow, but living life to its fullest in the here and now! True greatness is never giving up - or, if you have to give up, giving up on your terms and not on their terms; because true greatness is different from stupidity and blind recklessness - someone who is truly great knows when to keep going and knows when to cut his or her losses and stop. He (or she!) knows when to hold 'em, but also knows equally well when to fold 'em! True greatness is being as wise as a serpent, but, at the same time, being as innocent as a dove (WARNING: Biblical inspiration right there! Ah, you may be inspired - you never know!!!). True greatness is an internal character trait, not an external trait to boast about or "show off". You grow into greatness - it is not something you "instantly win" (if you come across a situation like that it is more probably a situation of "blind luck" than actual "true greatness"). True greatness is love, patience, endurance, compassion, empathy, sympathy, and, above all else, hard work and dedication to the cause - whatever your cause may be! To true greatness! Better life, better business! May you live long and profit well in sustainable, ethical ways! -Andreas Owner of Biz Opp Empire |
